It is time for all to come on down to the Community Center Theater for the next great show presented by the Winters Theatre Company. “Leading Ladies” opens this Friday evening, March 9, and continues for 5 more exciting performances over two weekends.
Leo and Jack, two struggling and aging actors, are the major male characters in “Leading Ladies.” One day, in a local newspaper ad, they discover a golden opportunity to grab a fortune. It seems that an ailing elderly woman is desperately searching for her sister’s two adult children, so that the children, Max and Steve, can receive their multi-million dollar inheritance. But Max and Steve have not been seen for decades, and nobody knows what they look like!
Our heroes, Leo and Jack, decide to pretend to be Max and Steve, the missing adult children, so that they can claim the large fortune. But there is a catch – Leo and Jack do not realize that Max and Steve are just nicknames for Maxine and Stephanie! Yes, the two missing men they have decided to impersonate are, in fact, two women. And so the fun begins!
“Leading Ladies” was written by internationally acclaimed playwright Ken Ludwig, who also wrote “Lend Me A Tenor,” and “Moon Over Buffalo.” Local theater fans will certainly remember the WTC production of Ludwig’s “Moon over Buffalo,” presented at the Community Center Theater just two years ago.
