It’s almost Christmas. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, with peace and love and understanding abounding; what can possibly go wrong? Well, if you come to see the Winters Theatre Company’s production of Barbara Robinson’s “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” you’ll see that everything can AND will go wrong! Right before the annual Christmas pageant, major pageant coordinator, Mrs. Armstrong, breaks her leg and is down for the count! And, then, the Herdman children want to participate in the pageant. But, these kids are anything but “angels.” Their idea of a good time is smoking (cigars!), lying and stealing, and hitting other kids…oh, and setting fire to a tool house! Is it possible that this situation can turn out anything but catastrophic? We won’t give away the whole story, but if you add in a mother (and reluctant father!) and some Herdman kids that really do want to do the right thing (at least occasionally!), perhaps a little Christmas “magic” just might save the day?
Show times for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” will be Fridays and Saturdays 11-21 through 12-6 at 8pm, and Sundays 11-23 through 12-7 at 2pm. Shows will be at the Winters Community Center, 201 Railroad Ave, in Winters. There will be a gala opening at 7:30pm on Friday 11-21, with tickets at $15. For all other shows, tickets are $12 general, and $6 seniors and children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at winterstheatre.org or by calling 530-795-4014.
Ghosts and witches and everything in-between will be on display in the next week! And, don’t forget about the vampires! Coming soon to the Winters Community Center Theater…the Winters Theatre Company production of “Night of the Anemic Vampire.” This comedy melodrama pokes fun at the myriad novels, television shows, and films which explore the popular myth of vampires, the bat-like creatures who haunt the night in search of the blood of their human victims. “Night of the Anemic Vampire” is the work of area playwright, director, and actor, the late Darrel Akers, and was first performed in Napa in 1977. The play has received rave reviews for its rapid-fire dialogue and zany characterizations. While many vampire plays are truly frightening, “Night of the Anemic Vampire” was written strictly for laughs and comedic effects.
Performance dates are Friday and Saturday evenings, October 24 and 25, and on the following Friday and Saturday evenings, October 31 and November 1. There will also be two Sunday matinee performances at 2pm, on October 26 and November 2. The Friday and Saturday shows start at 8pm ,except for the opening night show on Friday October 24th, which will be the gala opening at 7:30pm. Audience members are encouraged to join in the fun and wear scary costumes, especially to the Halloween performance on October 31. Tickets to see “Night of the Anemic Vampire” are available at: http://www.winterstheatre.org or by calling (530) 795-4014. Please contact WTC at email@example.com for more information.
See you at the show!
