The Winters Theatre Company will be presenting “Coney Island Christmas” at the Winters Community Center at 201 Railroad Avenue this upcoming holiday season. Pulitzer Prize-winner Donald Margulies weaves together nostalgia, music and merriment in this new seasonal classic.
A holiday show for people of all ages and all faiths, Coney Island Christmas introduces us to Shirley Abramowitz, a young Jewish girl who, much to her immigrant parents’ exasperation, is cast as Jesus in the school’s Christmas pageant. As Shirley, now much older, recounts the memorable story to her great-granddaughter, the play captures a timeless and universal tale of what it means to be an American during the holidays.
- There will be a gala opening on Friday November 22nd at 7:00pm, and this will include complimentary cheesecake, champagne, coffee, and soft drinks. Tickets will be $15 for the gala.
- The show on Saturday November 23rd will be at 7:30pm and is a benefit for the Winters Music Boosters. Ticket prices for the benefit will be $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Included with the price of the ticket will be complimentary desserts, cocoa, coffee, and water.
- Other shows will be at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays through December 7th, and on Sundays at 2:00pm on November 24th, December 1st, and December 8th.
- Please note there won’t be a show on Friday December 6th; instead there will be a special showing on Thursday December 5th at 7:30pm.
Ticket prices for shows other than the gala and benefit will be $12 for adults, and $10 for seniors and children 12 and under.
