Lit Fest 1

Submission Guidelines
Interested participants are invited to submit a digital text of their previously
unpublished work. Works will be reviewed by members of the Winters
Theatre Company and Winters Friends of the Library. Invitations will be
emailed to selected writers/poets. Send your digital works to
janene.whitesell@gmail.co
m using a plain text file format (no stylized
fonts or backgrounds). We can accept the following file formats: .txt
.docx .pdf


Please include the following information with your entry:
1. Name, Email address, Mailing address, Phone number
2. Title(s) of works
3. Genre (poetry or prose)
4. Your website/Instagram info (if applicable)

Please indicate your answers to these two questions in your entry:
1. Are you the sole owner of this work and can the work be performed
in a public venue? yes/no
2. Can a recording of this work in part or in whole be used for publicity
purposes? yes/no

Definitions:
Poetry: Original work by the poet in which special intensity is given to
the expression of feelings and ideas using distinctive style and rhythm.
All forms of poetry are encouraged. Poets may enter multiple poems
for consideration. Performance time limit: up to 4 minutes.

Stories: A short story, personal or fictionalized history, or monologue written by the performer. The original work may be either fiction or nonfiction. Works may be written in first , second , or third person point of view. Writers may enter multiple stories, but only one maximum will be selected. Performance time limit: 4--8 minutes.

 

Timeline:
August 13--September 24:
Submission of works. Writers/poets are
encouraged to submit their work early.
September 24: Deadline for submissions.
September 25--30: Submissions reviewed by the selection committee
and invitations emailed to selected writers/poets.
October 1: Results emailed to all entrants.
October 6: Trial run-through. (Optional, location to be determined)
October 13: Friday, October 13 6:00pm -8:00 pm. Performance and
reception. Performance and reception held at the Margaret Parsons
Room, Winters Community Library, 708 Railroad Ave, Winters, CA 95694.
