As a non-profit organization, Winters Theatre Company's many years of quality entertainment has only been possible thanks to hundreds of volunteers like you who have generously donated their passion and time to this endeavour. Please help continue this wonderful legacy and consider volunteering to keep live theatre and music alive in our community.
You don't need special skills or experience to volunteer, only the desire to contribute to our community and the arts!
Perks of Volunteering
Volunteering offers community for people of all ages and abilities, the opportunity to make new friends, to contribute your time and talents to help support local theatre, and to explore new interests and passions.
Front of House volunteers (box office and concessions) can enjoy the performance they are volunteering at for free and can get a free WTC T-Shirt. Other volunteers (outside of a scheduled performance), get complimentary tickets to attend an upcoming performance.
How can I Help?
There are lots of ways to help WTC by volunteering your talents and time! You can ...
-
Work the box office or concession stand for a WTC play performance or music show
-
Help with a play (sets, costumes, photography, publicity, etc.)
-
Help with planning or set up for other special events (for example, fundraising events)
-
Feel free to suggest any other idea you might have for helping out. We'd love to help you get involved!
Front of House Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers to help take tickets and work concessions for our plays and music shows. The time commitment is flexible, you can volunteer to help out at whichever shows you like and for however many performance dates fit in with your schedule.
-
Box Office
Greet patrons at the door, check tickets purchased online, sell tickets, hand out programs. Volunteers are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the doors open to the public (doors open to the public 1/2 hour before the show starts). Once the show starts, box office volunteers can stay to watch the performance.
-
Concessions
Work at the concession stand / bar before the show starts and during intermission. Help with concession cleanup after the show. Volunteers are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before the doors open to the public. During the show itself, volunteers are free to watch the performance!
NOTE: To serve alcohol (wine and beer), volunteers must have a current Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) certificate as required by the State of California. If you do not already have a current RBS certificate, you can get one by completing a self-paced online training course. WTC will give you all the details you need to get started!
To volunteer, just provide your contact details in the Volunteer Form and we'll reach out 2 - 4 weeks before each upcoming production to ask for volunteers for specific shows / performances. If you have any questions about volunteering for Box Office or Concessions, please email wintersoperahouse@gmail.com
Theater Production Volunteers
Want to be part of the magic? Whether you're an experienced theatre person or a total newbie, WTC invites you to join our friendly and welcoming group of theatre enthusiasts!
Every play has different needs. If you have skills (or an interest in learning) in any of the areas below and want to help out with a future show, just provide your contact info Volunteer Form.
Some of the things you can volunteer to do to help with a play are listed below. You can choose to help out with whatever you have the time and interest in doing. For example, for Costumes, if you can sew and help with alterations or repairs, that would be great! But if you only want to help put together costumes from the costume shed or thrift store finds, that's great too! Or for Set Design / Construction, you can volunteer to just help build or paint for one day, or you can get more involved with the design. For Publicity, if you're a photographer, you can help take pictures or short videos for publicity. If you're good at content, you can help with press releases. We're appreciative of whatever you can help with!
